Moonlit walk

 

 Since moving into the chateau we had fallen in love with the old building and its endless grounds, so on this beautiful moonlit night i decided to take a walk to appreciate the fall colours before the Autumn air turned cooler...

Walking around i had forgotten the history of this place and the grand ruins that sat within its boundaries, taking the path to the West gate i admired the grandeur of times past and wondered how long the gate had taken the stone masons to carve...

I headed down past the stables, the horses seemed to be uneasy tonight... maybe they were surprised i was walking alone so late. But i thought I'd check on the vineyard and see if crows had stollen more of our bountiful harvest...

It was here i began to feel a little uneasy..

Maybe the creaking of the old windmill, maybe the darkness felt a little darker ..

But something gave me a little chill..as if something or someone was watching me?

I shrugged it off and carried on...

I decided to walk through the woodland, knowing how pretty the fall leaves were looking...

I still couldn't shake that feeling i was being watched?. I continued my walk...

The old tea house looked serene in the moonlight the water looked so pretty and inviting...

But sadly it was much too late for a skinny dip so i took the path back to the East gate..

Admiring the Autumn display and softly falling leaves...

However, as i neared the old wishing well, i was sure i could hear whispering this got louder the closer i got, was someone down there? Dare  i peep over the edge...

At this point my eyes met the eyes of this strange creature trying to escape from the well, i turned on my heels and ran for the East gate and home..

I dashed through its broken gates wondering how long it had stood guard against the creatures in the grounds.

The next time i want a moonlit walk..i wont be doing it alone!!
