National Dress

Miss India now presents her national costume the Sari , originating  in Ancient India the Sari consists of layers of beautiful fabric , often very ornate and highly decorated.

 

 The sari can be used to relate various information such as marital status, religion, where the wearer comes from or even the occupation of the wearer.

Miss India chose a golden tika headdress decorated with the national bird of India, the peacock.

Her hands are adored with henna tattoos popular for weddings and festivals. When Henna tattoos are painted onto brides, Legend has it that the darker the stain the deeper the love between the two people getting married. The different designs offer the wearer protection, good health  and fertility.

Miss India also chose to be accompanied by another symbol of India, two Royal Bengal Tiger cubs which grow to be the largest of all tigers, with adult males weighing almost 600 pounds!
